Learning opportunities

Student placements and projects
Most companies at The Salter Centre are committed to taking in placement students at different times of the year. Our placement opportunities give students practical experiences in engineering and meaningful work that prepares them for the industry. Project students are also welcome at TSC.

Vacation employment
Out-of-term-time opportunities are also available for students. These can be volunteer work or short-term internships.

Hosting student teams
Student groups and societies can use the facilities at The Salter Centre.
Learning programmes

Schools and teacher programmes
We are committed to working with students of all ages and all stages of schooling to introduce and instil in them a curiosity for engineering and science. Our programmes include site visits, engineering activities, and work experiences.

Other skills programmes
Engineering skills training is available for those who want to learn how to use hand and machine tools. Our Machine Shop is a conducive place for learning, as it houses a wide array of lathes, mills, and other machinery.
Financial support
Bursaries are available to eligible individuals and groups seeking monetary support for engineering-related training or projects.
