Industrial Placements Intake 2026 at The Salter Centre

January 12, 2026 – The Salter Centre (TSC) welcomed 8 new placement students from the University of Edinburgh. The interns are a mix of Mechanical Engineering, and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students.  

The duration of their placement is from January to July 2026, and they are working across the resident companies, namely Ocean Cooling Technology, Sequentec, Flowcopter, Quoceant, and Edinburgh Designs. Placement students are given practical engineering work that prepares them for the industry. Interns come in and get to experience what it is like to work full-time at a company.  

TSC has also provided training for these interns on different topics, such as electrical isolation and welding. Most importantly, they are taught how to use certain machines and tools such as pillar drills and mills, which they might not have been necessarily taught at university.
