Our strategy

The Salter Centre aims to build on its culture of innovation, commercialisation, and learning by expanding its facilities, training programmes, and support for growing enterprises.

We have an unusually productive culture that fosters innovation, commercialisation and learning. We will nurture and develop this culture in all the ways we can.  We will:

  • Improve the existing facility so they become world-class.

  • Expand our facilities to take in more enterprises and serve them better.

  • Phase 1: involves doubling our capacity by adding two new buildings on our site. The first building will provide 6000 sq ft / 600 sq m of new offices, teaching spaces, high-grade meeting rooms and breakout areas. The second will provide 10000 sq ft / 1000 sq m of new engineering space with mezzanine offices.

  • Phase 2: could involve acquiring new land or property to double again.

Expand our training and the access to it to serve the enterprises and local communities, especially people from low socioeconomic groups, women and ethnic minorities i.e. those that would not readily become engineers.

Raise investment for ourselves and for the resident enterprises to support growth and commercialisation.

Tell the story of Stephen Salter, a brilliant engineer.
